Evaluators

Those who would like to be especially generous can volunteer to become an CTDA evaluator.

Becoming an Evaluator

We have onboarding options for both new evaluators and evaluators coming from other organizations.

Option 1: For new evaluators

Requirements:

  1. Be a member of CTDA

  2. Must have experience being a CTDA therapy dog team for one year

  3. Must have some experience with dog training

  4. Submit two letters of recommendations from people in the "dog world", such as from a trainer, groomer, vet, etc.

  5. Submit a letter that explains why you would like to become an evaluator and how it fits with your background in working with dogs

  6. Upload a headshot for your lanyard.

Once you are logged in, click the option to request to become an evaluator on your home page, and submit the above requested documents. We will review your application.​

Option 2: For evaluators wanting to transfer from other organizations in which they were an evaluator do the following steps.  Former TDI Evaluators only need to do #3 and #4 and #5.

Requirements:​

  1. Submit two letters of recommendations from people in the "dog world", such as from a trainer, groomer, vet, etc.

  2. Submit a letter that explains why you would like to become an evaluator and how it fits with your background in working with dogs

  3. Proof of your former membership (picture of membership card, etc.)

  4. Upload a headshot for your lanyard.

  5. Must be a current member of CTDA.

Evaluators can charge up to $25 per team for their evaluation.
